Stage 3 performance parts and engine reprogramming on a Seat Leon Cupra 5F
Today we find ourselves with a vehicle that has already passed through the hands of Shiftech for a stage 2 by the previous owner. This Seat Leon Cupra 5F belongs to Arnaud, the Shiftech Nantes technician who specialises in detailing and PPF fitting in particular. The idea of the project was for him to come and fit a complete PPF on a Mégane 4RS for a customer in two days and for us to do the stage 3 preparation for him in the same time.
Introduction to the Seat Leon 5F
Here we have a Seat Leon Cupra 5F 290hp without a bi-injection DPFS (particulate filter), a vehicle that has already been modified. Arnaud therefore decided to go even further in preparing his car. The Leon, which was already in Stage 2 configuration, was already producing 387 bhp thanks to installations such as a high-pressure pump and APR coils. However, it was time to take the preparation to the next level with a Shiftech Stage 3.
Mechanics and performance parts
For this preparation, we've chosen a TTE 550 hybrid turbo, which is perfect for achieving high levels of performance while remaining reliable. Here's the list of parts we'll be installing:
- Turbo hybrid TTE 550: A turbo that offers excellent value for money to boost power.
- APR downpipe: Essential for improving exhaust gas evacuation.
- forge intercooler: For improved intake air cooling.
- Walbro 525 fuel pump: Ensures adequate fuel pressure.
- Engine and gearbox mapping: Necessary to make the most of the new parts.
We'll also be replacing the turbo pressure sensor (MAP sensor) to ensure the system works properly.
Fitting a PPF on a Renault Mégane 4RS
Alongside the mechanical modifications, Arnaud is working on a full protective film (PPF) for a Renault Mégane 4RS in the new area of Shiftech Tours dedicated to car detailing.
Why protect your vehicle with a PPF?
PPF is the ultimate weapon for protecting paintwork from impacts, scratches and any other type of external aggression. It also helps to preserve the vehicle's value by selling it in a condition very close to its original one. Another important aspect is that if you scratch your bumper (all things considered), all you have to do is replace the damaged part to remove all traces of wear and tear without going through the paintwork.
Switching to the power bench
Once all the parts have been installed, it's time to move on to the power bench. This process allows us to measure the car's performance after the modifications. The results are often impressive and validate the efforts made during preparation.
Test results
After the first run on the dyno, the vehicle produced 464 bhp in flexfuel mode, but we felt that this result was a little light, so we decided to go a little further. The result after reworking the mapping: 505 bhp and 617 Nm of torque. These figures show that the installation of parts and the customised mapping have paid off!

In conclusion, our Stage 3 preparation of the Seat Leon Cupra offers incredible performance while maintaining reliability.
