Hyundai and Kia chiptuning, the I20N is finally possible
Engine reprogramming finally available for the eagerly awaited Hyundai I20N as well as many Kia and Hyundai models.
At Shiftech we are always on the lookout for the latest innovations to satisfy the demands of our passionate customers.
The KEFICO CPEGD3.20.1 and CPEGP3.20.2 ECUs installed on many flagship Hyundai and Kia models, which were previously locked, are now eligible for chiptuning!
This new protocol, developed by our partner Autotuner, opens up a whole range of optimisation possibilities for vehicles such as the highly popular Hyundai i20N, often in demand for its sporting qualities.
Which engines are concerned?
This ECU is fitted to many Hyundai and Kia engines:
Tunable Hyundai engines
- 1.0 T-GDI 48v
- 1.5 T-GDI
- 1.6 T-GDI
- 1.6 T-GDI PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid)
- 1.21 MPI
Tunable Kia engines
- 1.0 T-GDI 48v
- 1.5 T-GDI
- 1.6 T-GDI
- 1.6 T-GDI (N)
- 1.6 T-GDI 48v
- 1.6 T-GDI hybrid
- 1.21 MPI
Why are Kia and Hyundai sharing the same engines?
Kia and Hyundai vehicles often share the same ECUs and powertrains because they belong to the same industrial group, Hyundai Motor Group. This synergy enables the two brands to maximise the efficiency of their production and R&D processes. By using common platforms, shared technologies and components, such as engines and ECUs, the group can reduce production costs and accelerate the development of new models.
It also ensures consistent quality and proven reliability across both brands, while offering a variety of choices to consumers through brand-specific designs and tuning.
Which models are affected?
A large number of models are affected by this update:
Tunable Hyundai models
- i10
- i20
- i30
- Kona
- Santa Fe
- Tucson (from 2020)
Tunable Kia models
- Picanto (from 2017)
- ProCeed (to expd 2019)
- Rio (to expd 2020)
- Sorento (MQ4 - to expd 2020)
- Soul (SK3 - 2019)
- Sportage (QL - to expd 2015)
- Stonic (KX1 - to expire 2017)
- X-Ceed (to expire 2019)
Are all the engine optimisations available?
Our full range of engine reprogramming services for these Hyundai and Kia models has already been developed:
Stage 1: Stage 1 optimises the engine's original parameters to increase power and torque, while remaining within the tolerances of the mechanical components. This is an ideal solution for improving performance without hardware modifications, offering more dynamic and responsive driving.
Stage 2: Stage 2 builds on Stage 1 by including additional hardware modifications, such as the installation of an optimised exhaust line, a large-volume intercooler or an improved air intake. These modifications make it possible to exploit the engine's full potential, further increasing power and torque for maximum performance.
Flex: This FlexFuel conversion enables the vehicle to run on both unleaded petrol and biofuels such as E85 (ethanol). Flex offers the flexibility to use alternative fuels that are more economical and environmentally friendly.
Flex+: Flex+ combines the benefits of Stage 1 and FlexFuel conversion, not only increasing engine power but also taking advantage of the savings and environmental benefits of biofuels. It's the perfect solution for those who want optimised performance while using greener fuels.
These services allow each driver to choose the option that suits their needs and driving style.
