Prépa ou pas : On a doublé la puissance du Vito du @lecoindupatissier 🚀

We already introduced him to you a few weeks ago in a previous video, but as a reminder, Dorian is a passionate 24-year-old artisan pastry chef based near Saint-Cyr. He specialises in creating made-to-measure pastries for special events. Alongside his work, he has a strong presence on social networks, where he shares his daily gourmet life.

Dorian doesn't just excel at pastry-making, he also has a passion for cars. He started out with an Audi S3 saloon, which opened the door to the world of sports cars. What he's looking for is the perfect balance between comfort and power. With the preparation of his Mercedes Vito 114 CDI at Shiftech, he is living his passion for driving and performance to the full.

When asked what he expects from reprogramming, Dorian is clear: his main aim is to save fuel. With his many deliveries between Tours and Paris, he covers between 5,000 and 6,000 km a month.

So every litre saved makes a real difference to his budget. " If on top of that I can be more responsive, especially in Parisian traffic where you have to be quick to react at red lights, that would really be a plus," he explains. And with a Vito that's often loaded with 800 kilos of raw materials, a little boost wouldn't go amiss.

Before putting the Vito through its paces on the power bench, Médéric made a quick tour of Dorian's vehicle to examine its general condition and specify any future modifications. He quickly discovers that the Vito is a 114 CDI, fitted with a Mercedes OM654 engine, which is in fact the same engine block as the higher versions, simply electronically limited. This means that there is considerable potential for optimisation without touching the powertrain.

The planned reprogramming will increase the engine's output from the original 136 bhp to around 260 bhp, doubling the vehicle's power output. Torque will also increase significantly, from 350 Nm to 550 Nm. " With this gain, you're really going to feel the difference, especially when your Vito is fully loaded ," explains Médéric. Thanks to this new mapping, the Vito will offer much more dynamic acceleration, particularly on hillsides or when overtaking.

Médéric also insists that the preparation remains 100% compliant with the technical inspection and does not require any physical modification to the engine. Everything is done in the electronic control unit, which guarantees rapid intervention with no risk to the vehicle's reliability. " We'll look after your Vito and let you drive away with a vehicle that's unrecognisable in terms of performance," concludes Médo.

Once the foundations have been laid, it's time for action: Dorian's Vito is attached to the power bench. Before any modifications were made, an initial measurement was taken to determine the original performance. The verdict: the vehicle produces 125 bhp and 312 Nm, slightly below the values announced by the manufacturer.

The Shiftech engineers then extract the original mapping from the ECU and modify it. Each parameter is carefully adjusted to optimise performance while maintaining engine reliability. Once the new map has been injected, the Vito goes back on the power bench to validate the results.

After a few adjustments, the verdict was in: 262 bhp and 548 Nm of torque. Médéric is delighted: " This is a real metamorphosis. You're going to feel the difference from the very first metres. "The increase in power is impressive, and promises a much smoother, more enjoyable drive, especially on long journeys or when overtaking.

Médéric also explains that this reprogrammingimproves driving comfort while making the vehicle more responsive, particularly when under load. An improvement that Dorian can't wait to test out on the road.

Once the modifications were complete, Dorian took to the road to test his freshly reprogrammed Vito. From the very first metres, the difference was obvious: acceleration was much more forthright, and acceleration under load was nothing like the original version.

On the road, Dorian has fun gently pushing the Vito, particularly in the first gears, where the power is released immediately. " You really feel like you're driving a different car. Even overtaking, which used to take time to react, is now done with complete confidence.

The test drive ends with a smile: Dorian is won over by this transformation. He even admits that he can't wait to get back on the road for his next deliveries and take full advantage of his supercharged Vito.

The final verdict was clear: the prep work had been completed! Dorian was won over by the new performance of his Vito, which now has nothing in common with the original version. He highlights the significant improvement in terms of power and responsiveness, as well as the new-found driving comfort, even with heavy loads.

" This Vito has become a real pleasure to drive, and what's more, I'll be saving fuel on my journeys.

Médéric is quick to point out that this reprogramming is available to all Vito owners wishing to improve their vehicle without touching the mechanical aspects. It's a simple and effective way to give your van a new lease of life.
